Finding your way around

You’ll need: nothing switched on — this lesson is orientation and applies to every FeePrime business.

FeePrime has a lot of modules, but only a handful of screen layouts. Learn the layouts and the size of the system stops mattering.

The sidebar

Modules are grouped by the part of the business they belong to — general, communication, sales, inventory, purchasing, cash and accounting, members, settings. You will spend most of your working life inside one or two of those groups and can happily ignore the rest.

The shape of a list page

Nearly every module opens as a list page, and they all share one shape.

      the list the detail

The list on the left is how you find things. The detail on the right is one record in full. Click a row on the left, it fills the right. That is the entire interaction.

Three ways to look at the same list

A view switcher offers Master / detail, Table and Grid.

Master / detail is the layout drawn above and is the one to use while working through records one at a time.

Table gives you rows and columns, which is what you want when comparing many records or scanning for an odd one.

Grid shows cards with pictures, which suits products and anything else you recognise by sight rather than by name.

It is the same records and the same search underneath. Switch freely.

On a phone

There is no room for two panes side by side, so the detail arrives as a panel that slides in over the list, with a close button to go back. Same records, same buttons, one at a time.

Try it

Open Contacts on staging.feeprime.com and cycle through all three view modes on the same list. Then narrow your browser window until the layout collapses to the phone version. Knowing that these are the same screen saves confusion later when a colleague describes something that looks nothing like what you are seeing.
