Working offline

You’ll need: nothing switched on — this lesson is orientation and applies to every FeePrime business.

FeePrime is built for places where the connection comes and goes. Several modules keep a copy on your device, so losing signal mid-shift does not stop you working.

What you will see

When the connection drops, FeePrime tells you rather than failing mysteriously: You are offline. Showing cached data. A record you open may say Offline — showing your last synced copy.

You can keep reading, and in the modules that support it you can keep creating. New records go into an outbox and are sent as soon as the connection returns. They appear in your lists straight away, marked as not yet synced, so you can see what is still waiting.

online -> work saves straight to the server
offline -> work goes into the outbox, visible to you
back on -> the outbox sends, records become normal

The honest limits

Not every module works offline. The ones that do are the ones people genuinely need in the field. If a module is not among them, it will not be available while you are disconnected.

Search is limited offline — FeePrime says so. It searches what is on your device, which is recent records rather than your entire history.

Detail views are thinner. Offline you see a record’s own fields, but not the calculated extras a page normally assembles — line tables, running percentages, linked documents. Those come back when you reconnect. This is a known trade-off, not a fault.

A dropdown may look short. A picker can only offer what is cached, so if the thing you want to reference is not on your device, you cannot pick it offline.

The rule worth remembering

Do not close your browser or clear your data while the outbox still has unsent work in it. Wait for it to sync. The outbox lives on your device, and it is the only copy of that work until it reaches the server.

Do not trust the connection icon

The single most useful thing in this lesson: a phone can show full bars and still have no working data connection. FeePrime does not rely on the device’s own claim about connectivity; it checks whether it can actually reach the server. So trust FeePrime’s offline banner over the signal indicator at the top of your screen.

Try it

On staging.feeprime.com, open a list, then turn off your device’s connection and reload. Watch the banner appear, then create a record and see it marked unsynced. Reconnect and watch it settle. Doing this once, calmly, is worth a great deal when it happens for real in a warehouse with no signal.
