Create your first business

You’ll need: Businesses, Branding — if you cannot see these, the module may be switched off for your business or outside your permissions. An administrator can change either.

Everything in FeePrime hangs off a business, so creating one is the first thing that happens. You may never do this yourself — often somebody sets it up once and the rest of the team simply joins it — but understanding what gets decided here explains a lot of what you will meet later.

The identifier is a public decision

A business has a name (“Boulangerie du Centre”) and, separately, an identifier: a short lowercase word with no spaces, like boulangerie. The name is decoration. The identifier is structural, because it becomes part of every public web address your business has.

  feeprime.com / boulangerie / en / products
                 ^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^
                 identifier language

Choose it the way you would choose a domain name: short, obvious, and something you will still be happy with in three years. Changing it later breaks every link anyone has saved or printed.

What you set up once

Branding — your logo and brand colour. These are not only decoration: the brand colour is picked up by your public pages and by printed documents, so a good one is worth ten minutes.

Languages — which languages your business operates in. Some fields then accept one value per language, so a product can be “Bread” in English and “Pain” in French. Add the languages you genuinely serve; every extra language is extra typing forever.

Currencies — which currencies you trade in. Every amount you enter later belongs to one of these, so the list needs to be right before people start entering money.

Get these right before anyone starts typing

Languages and currencies are the two settings people regret. Adding a second language after a thousand products exist means a thousand products with a blank French name. Adding a currency is easier, but changing which currency an existing transaction was in is not.

Spend the extra five minutes now.

Try it

On staging.feeprime.com, create a business of your own with a silly identifier. Set a brand colour, then open the public side of it and watch your colour appear on the page. That single loop — change something in the app, see it on the public site — is the core rhythm of FeePrime.
