What FeePrime is
You’ll need: nothing switched on — this lesson is orientation and applies to every FeePrime business.
FeePrime is one system for running a business. Your customers, your stock, your money, your staff and your public website all live in the same place, which is the whole point: when a sale happens, the stock goes down, the money goes up and the customer’s history grows, without anybody re-typing anything into a second system.
The only diagram you need
Almost everything in FeePrime follows the same three-level shape.
BUSINESS (your organisation)
|
+-- MODULE (Contacts)
| +-- record (Awa Ndiaye)
| +-- record (Bakary Traore)
|
+-- MODULE (Invoices)
| +-- record (INV-2608-4471)
| +-- record (INV-2608-4472)
|
+-- MODULE (Inventory items)
+-- record (Cement 50kg)
A business is the top of everything you do. A module is one kind of thing — contacts, invoices, stock items, purchase orders. A record is one of those things. When a colleague says “open the Contacts module and find that record”, this is what they mean.
Two faces, one set of data
FeePrime shows the same information through two different doors.
The app is where staff work. It is the screen with the sidebar full of modules. You need a login and the right permissions to get in.
The public site is what your customers see: your landing page, your product catalogue, your news, your services. It has no login and no sidebar.
They are not two systems. Publish a product in the app and it appears on the public site within moments, because it is the same record either way.
Why your screen looks different from your colleague’s
Modules are switched on per business. A shop that does not track stock has no Inventory section at all. A business with no membership scheme never sees Members. On top of that, your permissions decide which of the switched-on modules you can actually open.
So if a colleague describes a menu item you cannot find, nothing is broken. Either that module is off for your business, or you have not been given access to it. Both are normal, and both are fixed by whoever administers your business.
Practise as you learn
Everything in this course is easier if you click along. Use staging.feeprime.com — it is a practice copy of FeePrime, completely separate from the real thing. Create nonsense customers, delete things, break whatever you like. Nothing there touches your real business.
